The start of something great

Our open week, 24–30 August, is the only time we're open this year — a first taste ahead of our full opening in Summer 2027. It's your chance to test the waters with us, soak up the surroundings, and tell us what you think. Spaces are limited, so don't miss out — be part of the very beginning.

Good to know

Frequently asked

When are you open?
Just for our open week, 24–30 August 2026 — these are the only dates we're open this year. It's a first taste ahead of our full opening in Summer 2027, so spaces are limited and we'd recommend booking early.
Do I need to bring my own paddleboard?
No — you can add board hire to your booking, or bring your own kit if you prefer. Just choose how many boards you need when you book.
Can I bring my own paddleboard or kayak?
Yes — your own paddleboard is very welcome, and kayaks are too, as long as they're inflatable. To protect our lakes we only allow inflatable craft on the water; hard-shell kayaks and canoes aren't permitted. If you're bringing your own kit, we'll give it a quick spray with a disinfectant when you arrive. It takes seconds, and it stops invasive species and diseases hitching a ride between waterways — a small thing that keeps our lakes, and everyone else's, healthy.
How early should I arrive?
The time you pick is when you can get on the water. Please arrive at least 15 minutes beforehand to check in and get ready.
How long is a session?
Sessions are 2 hours on the water. When you book you can add extra hours if you'd like longer, subject to availability.
Is it suitable for beginners and children?
Yes. The lakes are calm and sheltered, making them ideal for first-timers and families. Under-18s must be supervised by an adult — see the supervision ratios below.
What adult supervision do children need?
The minimum age is 6, and for everyone's safety supervision ratios apply. Children aged 6–9 must share a board with a paying adult (sitting or kneeling on the front is fine). Children aged 10–14 may paddle their own board, but a supervising adult must be in the water with them — a maximum of 2 children per adult. Minors aged 15–17 may paddle their own board independently, but a supervising adult must stay on-site at Duncton Mill for the whole session. An adult sharing a board with a young child can't also be the in-water supervisor for older children, so please book enough adults for your group. You'll confirm your group meets these when you book.
Is there a lifeguard? Do I need to be able to swim?
There is no lifeguard on duty — all water use is at your own risk, so everyone paddling must be a confident swimmer. Everyone must wear a correctly-fitted buoyancy aid on the water at all times; we provide these on site for all paddlers.
What should I bring?
Swimwear or clothing you don't mind getting wet, a towel and a change of clothes. Please also bring footwear you're happy to get wet — it must be worn in the water, so an old pair of trainers is perfect. Water shoes or wetsuit boots work well too.
What happens if the weather's bad?
Light rain is no problem, but if conditions are unsafe we'll be in touch to rearrange your session. Please get in touch if you're unsure.
