Booking terms & conditions

Last updated 1 July 2026

1. Who we are, and these terms

These terms apply when you book a paddleboarding session with Duncton Mill Trout Farm Ltd, trading as Duncton Mill Paddleboarding, a company registered in England & Wales (company number 14772856) whose registered office is Dye House Lane, Duncton, West Sussex, GU28 0LF, United Kingdom. In these terms “we” and “us” mean Duncton Mill Paddleboarding, and “you” means the person making the booking.

By completing a booking you accept these terms on behalf of everyone in your party, and you confirm you are 18 or over. Please make sure the rest of your group knows the safety rules in sections 6 to 8 before you arrive.

2. Your booking

A session is 2 hours on the water, starting at the time you choose. You may add extra hours and board hire when you book, subject to availability. Your booking is confirmed only once your payment has been taken and we have sent you a confirmation email — please check it and tell us straight away if any of the details are wrong.

Places are limited by the number of people and boards we can safely have on the water at once, so we can only hold the date, time and party size shown on your confirmation. If you want to add people, boards or extra hours later you can do so through the link in your confirmation email, subject to availability, and you pay only for what you add.

3. Prices and payment

All prices are shown in pounds sterling and include VAT where applicable. The price you pay is the price displayed at the time you book. Payment is taken in full at the time of booking.

Card payments are processed by Stripe. Your card details are entered directly into Stripe's secure payment fields and are never seen or stored by us — we keep only the amount, whether it was paid, and a payment reference. See our privacy policy for how we handle your information.

4. Changes and cancellations

If you need to cancel or move your booking: tell us at least 48 hours before your session start time and we will give you a full refund, or move you to another available session, whichever you prefer. Cancellations made less than 48 hours beforehand, and no-shows, are non-refundable, because at that point we can no longer offer your place to anyone else.

To cancel or change a booking, email us at hello@dunctonpaddles.co.uk or call 07376 642706, quoting your booking reference. Refunds are made to the card you paid with and usually reach your account within 5 to 10 working days.

If we have to cancel: the weather rarely stops us — light rain is no problem — but if conditions are unsafe, or we have to close for any other reason, we will contact you as soon as we can. You can then either move your booking to another available session or take a full refund, whichever you prefer. If we have to cut a session short for safety reasons, we will refund the proportion of the session you lost, or offer you an equivalent session another day.

Because we provide leisure activities on a specific date, the 14-day cooling-off right for online purchases does not apply to bookings (regulation 28(1)(h) of the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013); the cancellation terms above apply instead. Nothing in these terms affects your legal rights if the service we provide is not carried out with reasonable care and skill.

5. Arriving and checking in

The time you book is the time you can get on the water. Please arrive at least 15 minutes beforehand so you have time to check in, complete our safety waiver and get ready. Everyone in your party must check in before going on the water.

If you arrive late we will do our best to get you out, but your session will still end at its scheduled finish time, as the next group will be waiting for the boards and the space on the water. Late arrival is not refundable.

6. Safety — please read this carefully

Paddleboarding is a water sport and carries inherent risks, including the risk of falling into deep, cold water. There is no lifeguard on duty and all water use is at your own risk. By booking you confirm that:

  • everyone in your party who goes on the water is a confident swimmer who is comfortable in deep water;
  • everyone will wear a correctly-fitted buoyancy aid at all times on the water — we provide these on site for all paddlers;
  • everyone will wear footwear that can get wet, and will follow the safety briefing and our staff's instructions at all times;
  • nobody in your party will go on the water under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

Please tell us before your session about any medical condition, injury, pregnancy or disability that might affect someone's safety on the water, so we can advise whether the activity is suitable and what support we can offer.

7. Children and supervision

The minimum age is 6. Everyone under 18 must be supervised by a responsible adult, and the following ratios apply for everyone's safety:

  • Aged 6 to 9Must share a board with a paying adult (sitting or kneeling on the front is fine).
  • Aged 10 to 14May paddle their own board, but a supervising adult must be in the water with them — maximum 2 children per adult.
  • Aged 15 to 17May paddle their own board, but a supervising adult must stay on-site throughout.

An adult sharing a board with a young child cannot also act as the in-water supervisor for older children, so please book enough adults for your group. You confirm when you book that your group meets these ratios. If your group arrives and does not meet them, we may have to refuse access to the water for the people affected, and no refund will be due in that case.

The supervising adult remains responsible for the children in their care at all times, both on the water and elsewhere on site.

8. Your own equipment, and our lakes

You are welcome to bring your own paddleboard, and inflatable kayaks are fine too. To protect our lakes we only allow inflatable craft on the water — hard-shell kayaks and canoes are not permitted. Equipment you bring will be given a quick disinfectant spray when you arrive, to stop invasive species and diseases spreading between waterways. It takes seconds; please allow for it at check-in.

You are responsible for making sure your own equipment is safe and in good working order. Equipment you hire from us remains our property — please treat it with care and return it at the end of your session. You are responsible for the cost of repairing or replacing any of our equipment lost or damaged through misuse, negligence or deliberate damage by your party.

9. Behaviour on site

We want everyone to have a safe and enjoyable time. We may refuse access to, or ask anyone to leave, the water or the site — without a refund — if they behave in a way that is unsafe, abusive, or that spoils other people's visit, if they appear to be under the influence of alcohol or drugs, or if they ignore our staff's safety instructions.

Please stay within the areas of the site and the lakes you are shown, and follow all signage. Duncton Mill is a working trout farm and a wildlife-rich site: please leave no litter, do not disturb the fishing lakes or the wildlife, and take care around the water's edge.

10. Your belongings

Please leave valuables at home where you can. Your belongings, and any vehicle you park on site, are left at your own risk; we cannot accept responsibility for loss or damage to them unless it is caused by our negligence.

11. Our responsibility to you

We will provide our service with reasonable care and skill. We do not exclude or limit our liability in any way the law does not allow — in particular, we do not exclude or limit our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for any breach of your statutory rights as a consumer.

Beyond that, we are not responsible for loss or damage that was not foreseeable when you booked, or for injury, loss or damage caused by your own failure — or that of someone in your party — to follow our safety instructions or these terms. Where we are liable for a problem with your booking, our liability is limited to the amount you paid for it.

12. Complaints

If something is not right, please tell a member of staff while you are on site so we have the chance to put it right there and then. If that is not possible, or you are still unhappy afterwards, email us at hello@dunctonpaddles.co.uk and we will respond as quickly as we can.

13. Changes to these terms, and applicable law

We may update these terms from time to time. The version that applies to your booking is the one published on this page when you booked, and we will change the “last updated” date above whenever they change.

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and any dispute may be brought before the courts of England and Wales.
